Fourier Series as a Unifying Topic in Calculus II

Abstract

In this paper I discuss the motivation behind using an introduction to Fourier series as a method to unify the topics of integration techniques and series calculations in a Calculus II course.

David Shoenthal earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics at Penn State University and began working at Longwood University immediately afterwards. He is currently an Associate Professor of Mathematics and department chair. In his spare time he converges periodically to a movie screen.
