ABSTRACT
To promote the photodegradation efficiency, TiO2 (C/TiO2), cobalt doped TiO2 (Co/TiO2) and cobalt and carbon co-doped TiO2 (Co-C/TiO2) nanoparticles were synthesized using sol-gel method and characterized with scanning electron microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis) and the specific surface area test. XRD results showed the catalysts mainly exist in anatase type; UV-vis spectroscopy revealed the band-gap of the Co/C co-doped TiO2 decreased than the pure TiO2, the absorption band edge show a red shift. The photocatalytic activity of the Co/C co-doped TiO2 was studied with degradation of the sodium pentachlorophenol. The degradation rate of the C/Co-doped TiO2 to the sodium pentachlorophenol is more than 85%.
