Abstract

Nanoporous graphene, a unique graphene nanostructure, has been frequently used to form nanocomposites. A very important application of polymer/nanoporous graphene nanocomposite has been observed in membrane sector. This state-of-the-art review highpoints design, features, and advanced functions of polymer/nanoporous graphene nanocomposite membranes. The nanoporous graphene derived nanocomposites brought about numerous revolutions in high-performance gas purification membranes as well as water permeation membranes. The structural diversity of polymer/nanoporous graphene nanocomposites has facilitated membrane separation processes especially in separation of anticipated gaseous molecules, ions, and water contaminants. Future research on innovative nanoporous graphene-based membrane may overcome design/performance related challenging factors for technical usages.
