WUF3: The Dog That Didn't Bark

Pages 123-129 | Published online: 29 Aug 2007

Notes

1 Unlike the World Social Forum, which has a clear ideological focus, the World Urban Forum can be considered more pragmatically positioned. Rather than trying to define “another world,” like the WSF, WUF's major goal is to provide more cities access to the best of the current world. Thus, the World Urban Forum hosts under one roof those driven to dialogue on urban disaster relief by pressing needs at home and those whose approach is much more whimsical—witness the Government of Canada's initially proposed theme for WUF3, “Building Cities to Match Our Dreams” (Government of Canada).
