ABSTRACT
Despite 50 years of anti-racial discrimination law in the UK, the political economy of the word ‘black’ remains negative. Its stigmatisation can be attributed to hyperinvisibility and hyperinvisitibility of the black population in Britain as well as the displacement of identity politics by the politics of identity.
