Abstract

A simple and rapid densitometric method has been developed for determination of fenbendazole in veterinarian suspension. After extracting the samples with 0.1 N HCL in methanol, the solutions were spotted on precoated silica gel TLC plates, which were eluted with a mixture of dichloromethane‐ethyl acetate–formic acid‐methanol (12:1.0∶0.6∶0.6, v/v). Quantitative evaluation was performed by measuring the absorbance reflectance of the fenbendazole spots at λ=293 nm. The TLC densitometric method is cheap, selective, precise, and accurate, and can be used for routine analysis of suspension in veterinary, pharmaceutical industry quality control laboratories.
