Abstract
Chimeric LRR-extensin proteins were identified that are involved in cell wall development. The proteins are exported to the extracellular matrix and their structure implies a regulatory and/or signalling function. A summary on the LRX gene family is presented and the possible roles of LRXs during plant development are discussed.
