ABSTRACT
This article forwards a framework for making English grammar teaching Philippine English (PE) and Global Englishes (GE)-inspired. It proposes a constructive alignment between and among grammar teaching approaches, methods, and techniques which draws grounding from PE and GE, and treats pedagogies as safe spaces for a local variety of English. It presents a mapping of the K–12 English curriculum for grammar in the Philippines and the corresponding PE syntactic features which may serve as grammar teaching contents. Further, the article posits that for grammar teaching in English-as-a-second language contexts such as the Philippines to be PE and GE oriented, a starting point is engendering an understanding of the global spread and the plural nature of English and the recognition of the aptness of local varieties as pedagogical norms.
