Abstract
This article reports on three approaches (Talking Pictures Therapy, Talking Pictures Books/Photobook Dads and Photo-assisted Employability/Rehabilitation) developed by the author, after a literature review, that were used to train the seven partners from six countries taking part in the EACEA funded ‘PhototherapyEurope in Prisons’ project. This project aims to address the emotional learning of prisoners through the use of photographs. The approaches are described and case studies from the UK part of the pilot are provided. Preliminary findings suggest that the therapeutic use of photographs in prisons is potentially a cost-effective method, allowing fast access to clients concerns. Phototherapy seems particularly suitable to be used in this context as it provides a unique means of expression for those who are rarely given a voice, potentially reducing cultural and language barriers.
Der Artikel thematisiert drei verschiedene Ansätze, die vom Autor auf Grundlage einer einschlägigen Literaturrecherche entwickelt wurden und als Basis für die Ausbildung der Beteiligten des Projekts „PhotographyEurope in Prisons“ dienten. Das Projekt stellt, anhand des therapeutischen Einsatzes von Bildern, auf das emotionales Lernen bei Gefangenen ab. Die drei Ansätze werden beschrieben und hierzu britische Fallstudien des Pilotprojekts vorgestellt. Die vorläufigen Forschungsergebnisse legen nahe, dass der therapeutische Einsatz von Bildern in Gefängnissen möglicherweise eine wirtschaftliche Methode darstellt, mit deren Hilfe ein schneller Zugang zu den Belangen der Klienten ermöglicht wird; zudem können die Mitarbeiter für dieses Verfahren in einer nachhaltigen Weise geschult werden. Die Fototherapie scheint sich in diesem Kontext deshalb so besonders zu eignen, weil es ein einzigartiges Ausdrucksmittel für jene darstellt, die kaum eine Stimme bekommen und es möglicherweise die kulturellen und sprachlichen Barrieren reduziert.
El artículo informa acerca de tres métodos por el autor, después de una revisión de la literatura. El método se utilizó para entrenar siete colegas de seis países que participaron en el proyecto piloto Fotografía Europea en Prisiones, financiado por la Unión Europea. El proyecto está dirigido al aprendizaje emocional de los prisioneros a través del uso de fotografías. Se describen los métodos y los estudios de caso llevados a cabo en lo correspondiente al Reino Unido en la realización del proyecto piloto. Los resultados preliminares sugieren que el uso terapéutico de fotografías en prisiones es un método viable económicamente que permite fácil acceso a las preocupaciones de los clientes y es un método en el cual el personal puede ser formado de manera sostenible. La fotografía parece ser particularmente útil para ser usada en este ambiente porque proporciona un medio de expresión único para aquéllos cuyas voces son oídas muy raramente y además ofrece la posibilidad de reducir las barreras culturales y de lenguaje.
Questo articolo fa riferimento a tre approcci sviluppati dall'autore dopo una revisione della letteratura; essi sono stati utilizzati per un’attività formativa circa l’uso delle tecniche fotografiche in ambito penale, attività rivolta a sette partner provenienti da sei paesi partecipanti al progetto PhototherapyEurope in Prisons, finanziato dall'UE. Questo progetto si propone di sostenere l'apprendimento emozionale dei detenuti attraverso l'uso di fotografie. Il contributo offre una descrizione dei diversi approcci e presenta casi trattati dalla parternship britannica. I risultati preliminari suggeriscono che l'utilizzo di fotografie nelle carceri è un metodo potenzialmente vantaggioso, che consente un rapido accesso alle preoccupazioni dei clienti; inoltre costituisce una metodologia che può essere efficacemente insegnata. L’uso clinico della fotografia sembra particolarmente adatto al contesto carcerario in quanto fornisce un mezzo di espressione privilegiato per coloro ai quali raramente è data voce, riducendo le possibili barriere culturali e linguistiche.
Cet article est un compte-rendu de trois approches développées par l’auteur, à la suite d’une revue de la littérature, qui utilisent des photographies dans un cadre thérapeutique. Ces approches ont constitué la base de la formation des sept partenaires européens qui ont pris part au projet ‘PhototherapyEurope in Prisons’ financé par l’Union Européenne. Ce projet avait pour objectif de prendre en considération la question de l’apprentissage affectif des personnes incarcérées grâce à l’utilisation de photographies. Dans un premier temps, une description est faite de ces trois approches ; elle est suivie par des études de cas provenant du projet pilote mené au Royaume-Uni. Les résultats préliminaires suggèrent que l’utilisation thérapeutique des photographies en prison est une méthode potentiellement rentable, permettant un accès rapide aux problèmes présentés par les clients. La photothérapie semble particulièrement adaptée au contexte carcéral car elle fournit un moyen d’expression unique à ceux dont on entend rarement la voix, réduisant potentiellement les barrières culturelles et langagières.
Το παρόν άρθρο αναφέρεται σε τρεις προσεγγίσεις ,οι οποίες αναπτύχθηκαν από το συγγραφέα, μετά από ανασκόπηση της βιβλιογραφίας, που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για την εκπαίδευση των επτά συμμετεχόντων από έξη χώρες που λαμβάνουν μέρος στο χρηματοδοτούμενο από την Ε.Ε. έργο -“PhototherapyEurope”- στις Φυλακές (PhototherapyEurope in Prisons). Το εν λόγω έργο έχει στόχο να προωθήσει τη συναισθηματική μάθηση των κρατουμένων μέσα από τη χρήση φωτογραφιών. Περιγράφονται οι προσεγγίσεις και παρουσιάζονται μελέτες περίπτωσης από το πιλοτικό μέρος της έρευνας που διεξήχθη στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Τα προκαταρκτικά ευρήματα υποδηλώνουν ότι η θεραπευτική χρήση των φωτογραφιών στις φυλακές μπορεί να είναι μια αποδοτική μέθοδος η οποία επιτρέπει τη γρήγορη πρόσβαση στα θέματα που απασχολούν τους πελάτες. Είναι επίσης μια μέθοδος στην οποία μπορεί να εκπαιδευτεί προσωπικό των φυλακών με βιώσιμο τρόπο. Η φωτοθεραπεία φαίνεται ιδιαίτερα κατάλληλη για το συγκεκριμένο πλαίσιο, δεδομένου ότι παρέχει ένα μοναδικό μέσο έκφρασης για εκείνους στους οποίους σπάνια δίδεται η δυνατότητα να εκφρασθούν, καθώς μειώνει δυνητικά τα πολιτισμικά και γλωσσικά εμπόδια.
