The highest age group (40–49) was characterized by the highest mean value of the total cholesterol, total cholesterol/HDL ratio and IMT of the two common carotid arteries. IMT: intima media thickness.

Worsening of the lipid profile was seen in the overweight participants rather than the obese ones. Overweight participants were characterized by the highest mean of total cholesterol, triglycerides, total cholesterol/HDL ratio and IMT of the left carotid artery. IMT: intima media thickness.
