Observational study of the elderly: an applied study utilizing Esther Bick's infant observation technique

Pages 107-115 | Published online: 24 Mar 2009

Abstract

Utilizing Esther Bick's infant observation technique, I will present my experiential study followed by two vignettes—a small group and one of an individual—to discuss some of the similarities and differences between this and infant observation. I will convey the importance of observational skills in my current research working psychotherapeutically with older adults.
