ABSTRACT
XZno-(1-x)MgO-Al2O3: Eu3+(0.1 mol%) (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.8) orange-red phosphors have been prepared using traditional solid-state reaction route. The characterisation of the samples has been done using X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique, thermoluminescence (TL), photoluminescence (PL), mechanoluminescence (ML) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) studies. The structural study has been done using X-ray diffraction technique. At an excitation wavelength of 394 nm, the prepared phosphors displayed the typical emission of Eu(III) ions as a result of the 5D0-7Fj transition. Optimum doping concentration is observed to be 0.4 mol%. The thermal stability and activation energy of the phosphor are analysed from the TDPL spectra (Temperature-Dependent Photoluminescence). The thermoluminescence and mechanoluminescence of 0.6ZnO-0.4MgO-Al2O3: Eu3+ (0.4 mol %) have also been discussed.
