Abstract

The study outlines the pillars of the psychology of sustainability and sustainable development. It applies a transdisciplinary approach to explore how the psychology of sustainability and sustainable development provides a common language for constructing well-being and quality-of-life of populations, regarding the natural, personal, social, organisational environments. The article also provides insights on the value of psychological variables in relation to natural environment as well as to other kinds of environments, promoting a prevention perspective focused on strengths amenable to trainings. Based on these analyses, the study makes a contribution to sustainability issues by introducing a psychological perspective and promoting the transdisciplinary framework at the basis of Sustainability Science.
