Abstract
This exploratory study examines how managers in the Small and Independent Hotels (SIH) perceive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Qualitative methods were used to collect data. Ten in-depth interviews with hotel managers/owners were conducted, coded and interpreted. The results provide an in-depth perspective and comprehension of various aspects of social responsibility as perceived by the managers/owners of small hotels. The findings also indicate specific components of CSR in the context of small hotels that differ from the factors derived from larger corporations and other industries.
