Abstract
This personal memoir recounts a longtime fascination with Alfred C. Kinsey and the Kinsey Report, starting with the Male volume in college, initiating the author's own personal scholarship in sexology. Starting the Ph.D. program at San Francisco's Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality led to several personal encounters with Kinsey associate Wardell Pomeroy, including giving her sex history to him in the Kinseyan interview method. A visit to conduct research at the Kinsey Institute on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University gave her the opportunity to tour the erotic art and historical sexological treasures in the Institute's archives and museum. These personal experiences have reflected and inspired her own lifelong search for sexual knowledge and expertise and connected her sexually and spiritually to Kinsey himself. This piece is condensed from a much longer version published as “Visiting Kinsey” in Best Sex Writing 2005, edited by V. Blue (Cleis Press).
