Abstract
Tourism motivation is an important topic in tourism management studies. To help students better understand this topic, 63 travelers' tales (or personal travelogues) published in travel section of The New York Times were used as data sources to illustrate the application of a tourism motivation analysis framework and teaching method. One exercise and one project were also designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students, respectively to peruse this data source. It is hoped the dataset can enrich lecturers' teaching materials and the framework proposed can help students analyze, categorize, and synthesize tourism motivations. It is argued and suggested that students will develop a more proactive learning attitude and critical thinking skills after completing the suggested project. Additionally, some future research that could peruse this dataset is also suggested.
