Abstract
This article addresses the issues surrounding the choice and utilization of virtual technology for patients and family members as they wait for appointments and procedures. Helping patients to channel their anxiety and stress by utilizing handheld devices has proved to be a valuable tool for the patients at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. This article will address the formation of the multidisciplinary group that was formed to review virtual technology, the issues with marketing and distribution, infection measures, evaluation of effectiveness, and future initiatives.
