This article presents a methodology for modelling and control of low frequency oscillations existing in a single and in two-area power systems. The proposed controller is based on shifting the eigenvalues of the system to optimum locations that provide an improved dynamic performance as compared with a previously reported work. The implemented pole-assignment algorithm has a simplified formulation procedure and requires less computation time as compared with equivalent algorithms. Computer simulations that assess the effectiveness and performance of the proposed controller are presented.
