Abstract

The author first demonstrates how she, in her previous practice as a cancer nurse educator, drew the attention of nurse students to their preconceptions of cancer by using creative writing and drawing methods. Several years later, as a university researcher, she found the traditional research methods unsuitable for gaining insight into motives and perspectives of vulnerable subjects. This article shows how her previous work with creative methods became an inspiration for academic writings.
