Mary C. Rorro
Dr. Mary C. Rorro graduated cum laude from Bryn Mawr College, is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist, and completed a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is a published poet, violist and composer, and blends the arts in her practice. Dr. Rorro is the recipient of an International Planetree Patient-Centered Care Excellence and Innovation Award, and the Jefferson Award, the nation’s highest volunteer award for public service of the U.S. Senate. As a psychiatrist treating veterans with PTSD, my work involves addressing unresolved grief and trauma. I write poetry on themes of loss, moral injury and survival guilt, and share the poetry to help patients, who have found it to be therapeutic in their journey toward healing. I was moved to write this poem “Never Forget,” by one veteran’s poignant and memorable story.
