1. I would not call these personal friendships fieldwork but have included them as background into the rationale of my practice, one that gravitates toward action and emotion.

2. Kreta Ayer is close to Chinatown, where many elderly persons reside. Tiong Bahru and Kreta Ayer are 2 of only 17 census divisions in Singapore (out of a total of 81) in which the age category with the highest proportion of residents is 60 and above (CitationKong, Teo, & Yeoh, 1996).
