Grandchildren Raised by Grandparents: Comparing the Experiences of African-American and Tanzanian Grandchildren

Abstract

This article compares the experiences and issues faced by grandchildren being raised by grandparents in New York with those of grandchildren in Tanzania, with both groups of grandparents having participated in grandparent empowerment training. The findings highlight differences between the groups related to both culture and resources but also suggest that empowerment training can positively impact both groups.
