Molecular and Crystal Structure of the C60F18 Adducts with Bromine and Carbon Disulfide

Abstract

No reaction occurs between C60F18 and liquid bromine. Instead, the solvate, C60F18·2Br2 was isolated. The solvate C60F18·0.5CS2 was prepared from solution of C60F18 in carbon disulfide. Crystal structures of the both solvates have been determined by single crystal X‐ray diffraction. C60F18 molecules have geometrical parameters similar to those in the known solvates and solvent free compound. The crystal packing consists of distorted hexagonal layers of the C60F18 molecules. Br2 molecules occupy tetrahedral holes between the layers. CS2 molecules occupy half of octahedral holes.
