Abstract
Four keratoconus patients, ranging in age from 24 to 62, and at various stages of the disease, were treated with the combined therapy of low frequency whole body ion cyclotron resonance and magnetic “applicators” applied locally to the temporal area. Following careful examination of the corneal profile using video image acquisition, treatments were given twice a week, for a total of 15 treatments. Following this regimen there were evident morphological changes in several layers of the corneas for all the patients, as well as increased transparency. Despite the limited number of patients in this preliminary study, the positive results suggest a larger follow up study of the effects of ICR treatment for keratoconus.
