ABSTRACT
Recent narrow bezel designs in liquid crystal (LC) displays require a sealant that possesses mechanical properties, including adhesive properties, moisture permeability, and acceptable LC contamination levels. The silane coupling agent is an important component in the sealant and plays a key role in the adhesion between the organic resin and inorganic substrate. In this study, we prepared UV/heat dual-curable sealants using reactive silane coupling agents, and then compared their performance with that of conventional adhesive containing alkyl-based silane coupling agent. As a result, the proposed sealants offered excellent adhesive properties for narrow bezel applications.
