Abstract

The glass of lithium-sodium tetragermanate LiNaGe4O9 was prepared by fast quenching the melt. The glass was devitrified on heating under the control of differential scanning calorimetry. It was shown that the glass crystallized through a single stage. Electrical properties were measured on heating in the interval including the characteristic temperatures of the glass devitrification. It was shown that electrical conductivity increased on approaching glass transition temperature Tg from below and sharply dropped down after the glass crystallization. Charge transfer in LiNaGe4O9 glass and polycrystal was attributed to Li ions motion. The data obtained can be used for the preparation of the nanometer sized LiNaGe4O9 glass ceramics with increased ionic conductivity.
