Abstract
Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) film was electrochemically prepared in nematic LC solvent under centrifugal force. Polarized ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) absorption spectra and polarizing optical microscopy (POM) images of the polymer film indicate orientation perpendicular to centrifugal force direction. PEDOT alignment was achieved during the polymerization through alignment of the liquid crystal matrix by centrifugal force. The monomer was polymerized along the liquid crystal alignment to form oriented PEDOT. Visualization of LC director was achieved by electrochemical polymerization in the LC.
