Scirus: For Scientific Information Only

ABSTRACT

This column focuses on the Scirus database. Scirus searches the Web and journal sources for scientific information. Journal sources include BioMed Central, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Project Euclid (math & statistics), Scitation (American Institute of Physics), and SIAM (Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics). Among the Web resources searched are the CogPrints (cognitive sciences), E-Print ArXiv (physics, math, computer science), NASA, the U.S. Patent Office, and international patents via Lexis-Nexis. Background information on the database will be presented as well as search basics.
