Abstract

Nanotechnology involves the manipulation of materials at a molecular level in order to make new materials with superior properties. The development of nanomaterials, a category of nanotechnology, has potential for applications in a number of local industries. After a few years of research work, an innovative, clear Interpenetrating Polymer Networks based on CNSL‐S and silicone resin binder is developed by using ceramic pigments as nanoparticles for high‐temperature surroundings. Groundbreaking nanotechnology ensures that the new product is substantially more impact‐resistant and good glossy appearance with very good scratch resistance as conventional heat resistant coatings. The coatings developed provided long‐term benefits to the ferrous metal in corrosive, as well as high temperature, environments. XRD and TGA/DTA analysis were used to determine the thermal behaviour of the coatings. EIS studies were carried out to ensure that the coating life was extended for a longer time.
