A new bicopper (II) complex [Cu2L2Cl2 · H2O, H2 L=C6H5CH(OH)CH(CH3)N=CH(C6H5‐2‐OH)], has been synthesized by Schiff base condensation of phenylpropanolamine with salicylaldehyde in the presence of Cu2+. The crystal of the complex was characterized by X‐ray diffraction, IR, ES‐MS spectroscopy, molar conductivity and elemental analyses. Antimicrobial activity study found that the complex was active against Candida albican, Bacillus pumilus and Bacillus coliforms.
The project was supported by the National Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province (No. 02KJD150014) and the Key Laboratory of Marine Biotechnology of Jiangsu Province.
