Abstract
The reaction of zinc(II) halides with Schiff base ligand 2,4-dichloro-6-[(3-methylaminopropylimino)methyl]phenol (HL) yields a pair of mononuclear complexes, [ZnLCl2]2· CH3OH· H2O (1) and [ZnLBr2]· CH3OH (2). The structures of the complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex (1) crystallizes in the P-1 space group with the unit cell a = 11.598(2), b = 11.972(2), c = 13.510(3) Å, α = 75.95(3)°, β = 79.67(3)°, γ = 67.80(3)°. Complex (2) crystallizes in the P212121 space group with the unit cell a = 7.303(2), b = 8.135(2), c = 29.689(5)Å, α = β = γ = 90°. Each Zn atom in the complexes is in a tetrahedral coordination.
