Abstract
A few coordination polymers of Cu(II), Zn(II), Mn(II), Co(II), and Ni(II), obtained from the reaction of metal acetate with newly synthesized ligand, namely [(5,5′-(3, 3′-((4-nitrophenyl)methylene)-bis-(1H–indole–3,1–diyl)-bis-(methylene)diquinolin-8-ol)] (NIMQ), are described here. The ligand has been characterized by elemental analysis, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR spectra and thermogravimetric analysis. Elemental analysis, infrared and electronic reflectance spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and thermogravimetry have been employed to characterize the coordination polymers. Magnetic moment and reflectance spectral studies reveal that a distorted octahedral geometry has been assigned to all the prepared coordination polymers. The microbicidal activity of all the samples has also been monitored against plant pathogens.
