Abstract

Synthesis of Fe2O3 nanoparticles was investigated using precipitation and thermal decomposition methods. Ammonia and urea, as alkali materials, were used in precipitation method. For comparison, Fe2O3 nanoparticles was prepared from thermal decomposition method in 2-hydroxy ethyl ammonium formate and 1,2-propan diol as solvent. The SEM images show that thermal decomposition method in presence of surfactant gives the best result for Fe2O3 nanoparticles. These particles were coated with silica and then the citallopram hydrobromid was immobilized on coated nanoparticle surface. TEM images show the silica layer on Fe2O3 nanoparticles and immobilization of the drug was proved from the FT-IR spectrum.
