Abstract

The preparation, structural characterization, and luminescence investigation of a new six- and eight-coordinative Cd(II) metal–organic framework of formula {[Cd3(bta)2][Na2(H2O)6]}n (1) (H4bta=1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid) is reported. The 3D structure of 1 consists of bta-bridged trinuclear Cd(II) where six oxygen atoms of four (η1, η1 ,2) and one (η2, η2 ,4) carboxylic groups and eight oxygen atoms from four (η2, η2 ,4) carboxylic groups complete the six coordination and eight coordination environments around Cd1 and Cd2, respectively, in which is entrapped with [Na2(H2O)6] unit. Furthermore, the luminescence is also discussed.
