Abstract

Effects of hospital wastewater contain, disinfectants, antibiotics, microbial and organic compounds can very harmful for environment and humans. The aim of this study was the assessment of the evaluation of hospital wastewater treatment system (WTP) efficiency in toxic, organic, and microbial pollutant removal in Ahvaz, Iran during 2016. This cross-sectional research studied the wastewater treatment and disposal systems condition and effluent quality in Razi, Golestan, and Abuzar Hospital in Ahvaz. 72 samples were collected from post-treatment outlet wastewater treatment plants (pH, Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Total Coliform (TC), and antibiotics especially tetracycline) in the composite form in all weekdays. In this study we used to the current standard methods, EPA for sampling and SPSS software for analyzed. The result of this study showed that the maximum removal percentage observed in the Abuzar hospital (80%). Results showed that the percentage average of BOD5, COD, TSS, TC, and tetracycline removal in the WTP Golestan, Razi, and Abuzar Hospital were (85.28, 85.57, 85.57, 64), (85.20, 82.57, 86, 77) and (89.58, 89.85, 89.57, 80), respectively. Results showed that removal percentage by extended aeration biological process is comparatively suitable. It should be mention that in the proper operation and reconstruction extended aeration biological system can have an increased rate of removal BOD5, COD, TSS, total coliform, and tetracycline. encourage Improve existing processes and treatment plants in hospitals can improve reduces the quality of wastewater and reduces the adverse effects of pollutants in hospital wastewater on the environment, animals and humans.
