Abstract
Aneurysms of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) constitute less than 1% of all intracranial aneurysms, with those of the distal portion (d-AICA) accounting for less than 0.1% CitationCitation. An unwanted risk of coil embolization of a d-AICA aneurysm is selective infarction of the internal auditory artery (IAA) leading to audiovestibular failure as suggested by this case report. Unusually, in cases of otherwise total audio-vestibular failure, the posterior semicircular canal appeared to be spared as demonstrated by the subsequent presentation with unilateral BPPV improving with an Epley manoeuvre.
