Abstract
Tetanus is rare in dogs and cats due to a natural resistance; however, there have been a few cases all of which required intense but rewarding nursing care. This article discusses what tetanus is, how this affects the animal as well as the symptomatic treatment and the prevention of complications which can maximise the patient’s outcome.
