Wenshan Jia (Ph.D. University of Massachusetts at Amherst) is Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Communication and Chinese Studies, School of Journalism & Communication, Renmin University of China, Beijing, China and Professor, School of Communication, at Chapman University, USA. A UMASS graduate research fellow at Harvard-Yenching Institute 1996–1998, he specializes in intercultural/global communication and is author/editor/translator of 10 books and 60 articles/essays/book chapters. He was awarded the Early Career Award by International Academy for Intercultural Research and Wang-Fradkin Endowed Professor by Chapman University both in 2005. Jia serves on the editorial board of top journals such as International Journal of Intercultural Relations. ‘Contemporary Chinese communication scholarship: An emerging alternative paradigm’ and Intercultural Communication: Adapting to emerging global realities (Cognella) are some of his most recent works. His classic works include The remaking of the Chinese character and identity in the 21st century, and Chinese communication theory & research. He is writing the book Global communication for an inclusive world order (Routledge, expected 2017).
