Mohammad Shafiqul Islam

Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, the poetry editor of Reckoning, is the author of two poetry collections, most recently Inner State (2020), and the translator of Humayun Ahmed: Selected Short Stories and Aphorisms of Humayun Azad. His work has appeared in the Journal of Postcolonial Writing, English in Education, Journal of Poetry Therapy, Poem: International English Language Quarterly, Journal of World Literature, Critical Survey, South Asian Review, English: Journal of the English Association, Asia Pacific Translation and Intercultural Studies, Massachusetts Review, Capitalism Nature Socialism, Stag Hill Literary Journal, Dibur Literary Journal, Lunch Ticket, Bengal Lights, and elsewhere. His translations have been anthologized in a number of books, including The Book of Dhaka: A City in Short Fiction and Modern Poetry in Translation. Currently at work on his third collection of poetry and a few translation and research projects, Dr Islam is a professor of English literature at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
