Pages 63-67 | Published online: 23 Aug 2006

ABSTRACT

Over the past few years, professors in the Department of Communication Studies at West Virginia University have worked to integrate the graduate research methods course with the communication theory course. The goal is to help the students learn how theory and research are related and to help professors deal with the time management issues involved with guiding student research. The following is a brief rationale and procedural outline explaining how the interchange between the two courses works. A discussion of the benefits and drawbacks associated with this type of pedagogical exercise concludes the piece.
