Campus security and crime prevention is a critical issue to the police department of any educational institutions in the United States. The article interviewed a police chief with doctorate degree in criminology of an urban university in Texas. He believed that an advanced degree is helpful to his career for making informative decisions in daily operations and earning trust from the community is the most essential factor to law enforcement officers. He suggested a balance between usage of technology and community policing, and a focus on the causes of crime that can be used to prevent crime.
