Learning Partnerships in Study Abroad: Adapting Baxter Magolda’s Learning Partnership Model

Pages 452-467 | Published online: 23 Jun 2021

Abstract

While study abroad is often seen as a beneficial tool to prepare students for life in a global society, research has questioned its effectiveness in doing so. Practitioners would benefit from a theoretical framework to guide program development and implementation. This article shares how Baxter Magolda’s learning partnership model could be adapted to the study abroad context and suggests expansions and refinements of the model to better align it with the study abroad context.
