Different research groups assessed poxviral promoter activity, using different transgenes (inserts) and techniques. (1) Early (AraC+ treated samples) and overall (AraC-, untreated samples) expression of different recombinant antigen (rAg) is presented. (2) Percentage of promoter early activity is presented by dividing values of AraC+ over AraC-. (3) A more reliable and frequently used calculation is the fold difference in promoter early activity. This shows the fold of early activity differences between two viruses, without normalising to the total amount of expression (used by⁵⁸ and¹³). (4) Cellular immunogenicity studies compared p7.5, SSP, and mH5 promoters.
