Numerical study of holographic electromagnetic induction technique for imaging arbitrarily shaped biological objects

Abstract

This manuscript presents the working principle of holographic electromagnetic induction (HEMI) method for imaging small lesions in arbitrarily shaped biological objects. A computer model is developed to demonstrate a scattered magnetic field from optically small dielectric and arbitrarily shaped magnetic objects adsorbed onto a planar dielectric substrate. Wave propagation is included in the numerical model, particularly in modelling of biomedical applications. Results show that the HEMI image method has an ability to produce images of biological objects. Several potential medical imaging applications of the HEMI are available, including head imaging for brain stroke detection, breast imaging for breast cancer detection, diabetic ulcers and burns.
