Abstract

In this contribution, we present an efficient tool to attack a class of non-plane-parallel problems. Generally, curvilinear contours undergo restrictive approximations and often complex domains are simplified by a plane parallel problem. In our work, we have selected tools to overcome this challenge. Inspired by differential geometry theory, we propose to modify the original coordinate system. More precisely, we propose to change the usual Cartesian coordinate system by a curvilinear coordinate system that adapts to the physical domain of interest. The new coordinate system is defined from the physical domain. The change can be implemented in several problems and once the coordinate system is changed, the problem is solved as if it were a domain bounded by parallel planes. The change of coordinate system is done through a conformal diffeomorph transformation. To exemplify our methodology, we present progress on research concerning dispersion of tritium around the Angra Nuclear Power Plant, localized in the city of Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We present a simulation of tritium dispersion specifically in the area where the Angra II Nuclear Power Plant is located and where the relief is characterized by a considerable complexity.
