Monir Hossain Moni, who is currently on leave from his position as a Research Professor and Head of Division of Asian & International Affairs at the Asia Pacific Institute for Global Studies (APIGS) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, is a Visiting Research Scholar at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (IRCJS) in Kyoto, Japan. Under the Japanese Government MEXT (Monbukagakusho) scholarship program, he earned his second MA in Asia Pacific International Relations from Hitotsubashi University and he was awarded a PhD in Asia Pacific International Studies by Waseda University, and both the universities are Tokyo (Japan)-based. His widely diversified area of scholarly expertise includes Asia Pacific global interdisciplinary studies with a concentration on East Asia, shedding light on Japan. In line with his qualitative research interests, he has contributed many valuable pieces to international peer-reviewed journals including Asia Pacific Review, Asia Pacific Social Science Review, Asian Profile, Asia Europe Journal, Journal of International Development Studies, International Studies and World Affairs.
