Figure 1. Phylogenetic relationship of Z. japonicus with other 11 pinnipeds in the infraorder Pinnipedia. A phylogenetic tree was constructed with 13 mitochondrial protein-coding genes using the maximum-likelihood algorithm by MEGA version 7 software. The bootstrap values generated from 1000 replicates are shown at each branch and a black triangle represents Z. japonicus as determined in this study.
