Inflammation induced by microbial or non-microbial causes facilitate pregnancy complications such as preterm labor/birth, miscarriage, implantation failure, preeclampsia, chronic endometritis, and endometriosis. The causes of each disease tend to be of either microbial or non-microbial etiology; however, they often overlap. aCAM: acute chorioamnionitis; cCAM: chronic chorioamnionitis.
