Note: The exact number of attempted suicides were 182, 194, 188, 179, 168, 157, and 151, respectively. The downward trend was due to decreased suicide attempts in the adult population. Teen suicide was on the increase often associated with clustering (Swanson & Coleman, 2013).

Note: The figure represents the gradual downward trend in alcohol-related deaths by suicide from 2010 to 2016. Review of case-specific autopsy, toxicology, and administrative records revealed that alcohol was involved in 82% of all adult suicides, 60% of whom had been binge drinking with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) 3–6 times the legal limit for Ontario. 22% had a BAC at around the legal limit. 18% had consumed no alcohol
