Abstract
During the fall 2020 semester, classes at my institution were taught almost entirely online in response to the COVID19 pandemic. In order to promote student engagement in the online environment, I developed the Artistic Office Hour to promote casual social interactions outside of synchronous class-time. During the Artistic Office Hour, students and I met weekly using videoconferencing software to color illustrations from discipline-specific coloring books or work on personal art projects, relax, and chat. The Artistic Office Hour was enthusiastically received by students and promoted personal interactions among participants.
